Only strictly necessary cookies are set before you choose. Everything else waits for your consent, nothing is pre-ticked, and you can change or withdraw your choice from any page in the site footer.
1. When we set them
Strictly necessary cookies are set as soon as you arrive, because the site cannot function without them and no consent is required for them under the ePrivacy Directive or equivalent rules.
Everything else is set only after you opt in. We do not treat continued browsing, scrolling or closing the banner as consent, and no non-essential category is pre-selected.
2. Categories
Strictly necessary — always on
Security, load balancing, and remembering your cookie choice so we do not ask again on every page.
Functional — opt in
Remembering preferences such as language and currency between visits.
Analytics — opt in
Aggregated, pseudonymised measurement of which pages are read and where people leave. Used to improve the site, never to build an advertising profile.
Marketing — opt in
Measuring whether an advertisement brought you here, and showing relevant ads elsewhere. This is the only category that involves third parties, and it is off unless you turn it on.
3. The actual list
twinbat.consent — necessary, 6 months
Stores which categories you accepted, when, and against which version of this policy. Kept in local storage rather than a cookie, so it is never transmitted to our servers.
Session and security — necessary, session
Set by our hosting provider to route requests and mitigate abuse.
Analytics — analytics, up to 13 months
Set only after you opt in. Identifiers are pseudonymised and IP addresses truncated before storage.
Advertising — marketing, up to 13 months
Set only after you opt in, by the advertising platform concerned.
We re-ask for consent every six months, and immediately if we add a category — an older choice cannot cover processing that did not exist when you made it.
4. Changing your mind
Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it. Open the preferences panel from here or from the footer of any page:
You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser settings, which resets the choice entirely and means we will ask again.
5. Browser signals
We honour Global Privacy Control. If your browser or extension sends a GPC signal we treat it as an opt-out of analytics and marketing cookies, and as a valid opt-out request under the CCPA, without you needing to interact with the banner.
